Switching on your GPS

Switching on your GPS Start off by switching on the Garmin GPS unit by pushing the switch on top of the GPS to the left. Push towards the same direction again to switch it off. Push to the left to trigger the screen lock.

By pressing “Agree”, it will direct you straight to the main menu which looks like this:

Finding your way around has never been easier!

1. Get a GPS Satellite Signal. The signal bar is at the top left corner of the GPS Main menu. Your GPS is ready when your signal bar turns green. To get a signal, ensure that you are outdoors, under the sky and away from buildings which may interfere in getting the signal. Stay at the same position and do not move around while trying to get the signal.
2. To know where your current location is, press “View Map”. To find a location, press “Where to?”

Terms & Conditions

1. For cars tinted with V-Kool film or others, if the Smart tag does not work, it will be the same for our GPS.
2. To locate the current position, kindly perform a link up of the GPS under the sky.
3. The portable GPS is strongly recommended to be mounted on the windscreen.
4. When outside switching on with the antenna open, it takes less than 4 minutes to get the satellite signal.

Finding Addresses

There are some conditions in using the address search function:
 
i. This section is strictly to search houses using the street names.
ii. Do not use “Spell City”, use “Search all Cities” instead for easier searching.
iii. Currently, the “House Number” search is not applicable for Malaysia yet.
iv. When “Enter Street Name”, enter the Road Name only without “Jalan, Lorong, Persiaran, Laluan, Hala, etc.” in front of it. (i.e. for “Jalan Imbi”, just put “Imbi”)

Press “Where to?” in the Menu
  Step 2:
Press “Address” to search street names.

For better searching, “Search All” Cities.
Make sure it is “Select City in: Malaysia”. To set the country, press “Change Country”
  Step 4:
“House No” search is not applicable yet for Malaysia. Leave it blank and press “Done”.

Step 5:
Enter the street name only. Example, “Jalan Pisang”, enter the word “Pisang”.
  Step 6:
Search the street from the list. For “Jalan Pisang”, select “Pisang, J”.

Step 7:
The “Select City” list will display if there are more “Jalan Pisang” in the country. Select the appropriate City of the “Jalan Pisang” you wanted to go.
  Step 8:
Press “Go!” to proceed to your destination. Press “Map” if u want to see the surroundings of the location or “Save” to save your location into “Favourites”.

Finding Points of Interests, Landmarks and Condominium Names

Listed below are the categories in “Points of Interest” (POI).
1. Food 5. Shopping 9. Attractions
2. Fuel 6. Bank / ATM 10. Hospitals
3. Transit 7. Parking 11. Community
4. Lodging 8. Recreation 12. Vehicle Services

Press “Where to?” in the Menu.
  Step 2:
Press “Points of Interest”

Step 3:
Select the categories that you are searching for. For landmarks or Condominium Name, press “Spell Name”.

Spell the name, for example, “Faber Ria” and press “Done”.

Step 5:
Garmin GPS will auto-complete your search, for “Faber Ria” the complete landmark name is “Faber Ria Apt”. Press on the Apartment Name to get to the next screen.
  Step 6:
Press “Go!” to proceed to your destination. Press “Map” if u want to see the surroundings of the location or “Save” to save your location into “Favourites”.
