Avis Malaysia has seen tremendous growth to a point where we have diversified to provide corporate monthly and long term leasing.

Avis opened its first operations in Asia in 1970 in Hong Kong. Throughout the 70s we grew steadily in the region, with operations launched in Malaysia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore and Indonesia. More recently, developments have included openings in India, China and Taiwan (in 2007).

Asia is a key long-term growth region where today the Avis brand operates a network of over 235 locations through a network of a wholly own subsidiary, joint ventures and licensee agreements in the following markets:

Avis began operations in India in 1999 as a joint venture with the Luxury Hotel Group, Oberoi and has become a leading international car rental company with over 30 locations in the 14 major cities in India. Today, Avis is the only international car rental brand operating exclusively at Delhi Airport (onsite).

Avis became the first international car rental company to enter into an equity joint venture for the Chinese market when in January 2002 we signed an agreement with a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation - one of China's largest automotive groups - making us the largest international Rent A Car Company in China. Avis now employs over 1,500 people from 19 locations across China, including Beijing - the most locations held by an international car rental company.

Avis is recognised all over the world and is a strong and truly global brand. The quality and service behind Avis is delivered through a network of over 3,000 locations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia and an extensive network over 2,000 locations in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Latin America/Caribbean region.
