Avis Allocates RM24 Mln For Fleet Replacement

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- DRB-Hicom EZ- Drive Sdn Bhd, an industry leader in the car rental business, is allocating more than RM24 million to undertake an expansion plan to restructure the company's fleet management system. DRB-Hicom EZ-Drive is the franchise holder of Avis Rent A Car (Avis) and a member of DRB-Hicom Group. In a joint statement today, Avis said the restructuring plan would involve the latest range of car models of various marques. "Avis will strengthen its path of excellence and remain competitive in reaching out to a wider Malaysian market," said EON Bhd Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Hisham Othman. Under the first phase, DRB-Hicom EZ-Drive would acquire 130 new Proton cars to replace its fleet. The expansion strategy also include the opening of eight additional new stations throughout the country within the next five years. Avis has seven outlets nationwide in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), KLIA 2, Kuala Lumpur Downtown, Penang International Airport, Kuantan International Airport, Johor Baharu and Holiday Inn Melaka. -- BERNAMA
