MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER 2.0 (13 to 26 January 2021)

11 Jan 2021, Putrajaya: The Prime Minister of Malaysia announced today that a new Movement Control Order ('MCO 2.0') will be imposed to curb the spike of COVID-19 cases, following the third wave of the pandemic in Malaysia.
The Movement Control Order (MCO) will commence from 13th to 26th January 2021 in the following six states:-
- Penang
- Selangor
- Federal Territory (KL, Putrajaya, Labuan)
- Melaka
- Johor
- Sabah
Meanwhile, a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be implemented for:-
- Pahang
- Perak
- Negeri Sembilan
- Kedah
- Terengganu
- Kelantan
The Prime Minister also added that the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) will apply for the states of:-
- Perlis
- Sarawak
In view of this, our outlets and head office will be closed in observance of the MCO from 13 January onwards, until further notice. We shall still attend to certain emergencies or urgent service requests, subject to management approval. Your patience and understanding on this matter is greatly appreciated.

FAQ: RENTING A VEHICLE DURING THE MCO PERIOD
DO I NEED TO WEAR A MASK WHEN I COLLECT OR RETURN A VEHICLE IN MALAYSIA?
Yes, please remember to wear a face mask when collecting and returning vehicles. A fine of RM1,000 will be imposed on you if caught without a face mask when in a public area.
CAN I RESERVE A VEHICLE WITH FLEXIBILITY TO CHANGE OR CANCEL?
To travel with complete flexibility, you may cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of rental collection.
WHAT STEPS ARE AVIS TAKING TO ENSURE MY SAFETY AND MY VEHICLE IS SANITISED?
The Avis Safety Pledge is our relentless commitment to keep every one of our customers and employees safe.
We have implemented our cleaning protocols, including utilising disinfectant that protects our customers and employees against pathogens. All vehicles are thoroughly cleaned before every rental, with priority towards frequently touched surfaces such as the steering wheel, indicators, dashboard, hand grips, in-car entertainment controls, cup holders, keys, centre consoles, and all door handles, both inside and out.
The safety pledge allows customers to pick up and drop off vehicles with minimal contact. The contactless experience can be further enhanced by booking online and using the Digital Check-In feature,
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE ALREADY MADE A BOOKING, BUT IT’S IMPACTED BY THE CORONAVIRUS?
For increased flexibility on all bookings, you can change or cancel, without fees, any reservations in Malaysia for rentals at least 24 hours before your collection date.

AM I ABLE TO TRAVEL WITHIN MY STATE IN MALAYSIA?
For MCO affected States and Territories, a travel restriction of '10km from home' has been implemented. Traveling within the state is still allowed in CMCO and RMCO states. Prior to making a booking, we advise all customers to ensure they have obtained the prior proper approvals and documentation to do so. A fine of RM1,000 will be imposed if caught travelling without proper documents.
WHAT ABOUT INTERSTATE RENTALS WHERE STATE BORDERS HAVE CLOSED?
One way rentals are not allowed interstate during the duration of the MCO. Any new reservation should be made having reflected the right understanding of what could be allowed at the time of reservation.
A fine of RM1,000 will be imposed if caught travelling without proper documents.
ARE YOUR LOCATION HOURS CHANGING OR CLOSING?
All our outlets in Malaysia will be closed, with limited services throughout the MCO/CMCO/RMCO period from 13 January onwards, until further notice.
If you have an upcoming rental, you will be contacted by a member of our local team, who will advise on new arrangements for you to pick up or drop off your rental vehicle.
We shall do our best to attend to emergency or urgent customer requests during this period, albeit subject to management approval.
